I have to begin by creating a template in Photoshop for my DVD cover which will have guidelines set. These guidelines will enable me to see the front and back panel and spine areas, and these guidelines will be set using Amaray Inlay measurements. These guidelines will only be seen when creating the project for personal use and will not show up when printing the image.
The size of the front and back panels to the DVD case is 129.5mm x 183mm and the spine must have a width of 14mm or less.
There will be bleed areas around the case and the the panels of 3.175mm around, and the bleed is the area that will be trimmed once printed. Therefore it is important that no images or text that are vital to the DVD cover are in these areas as they will be lost, and this is further enhanced by text and images should be at least 1.5875mm from the edge.
When I began by creating the project I changed the Photoshop canvas size and changed the colour mode from RGB to CMYK as CMYK is what is specifically used for printing, as uses ink rather than light.
Below is what the template looks like, panels can be seen clearly, with all bleed areas also visible:
Your work is excellent
